Job Summary:

The primary role of the dishwasher is to support the Meal Program kitchen staff. The dishwasher reports to the Assistant Culinary Program Manager. This is a full-time, union, non-exempt, regular position.

Essential Duties:

• Washes pots and pans generated by meal cooking and packaging.
• Cleans and closes kitchen at the end of shift including sweeping, mopping, taking out trash and compost and making sure equipment is turned off.
• Launders kitchen towels and aprons.
• Performs periodic cleaning of kitchen equipment, shelving, and storage areas as assigned.
• Maintains the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the kitchen.
• Reports any equipment repair or maintenance concerns to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
• Assists with food prep.
• Attends and participates in team and all-staff meetings.
• Participates in lifelong Team building trainings and events.
• Helps in the recruitment and appreciation of volunteers.
• Participates in Lifelong’s employee performance management process.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Valid Washington State Food Handlers Permit and thorough knowledge of food safety practices.

Work Environment:

• The position is located in an industrial kitchen setting in Seattle, with the work occurring full-time in that location.
• All staff are currently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to COVID-19, and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required upon hiring.
