Summary
Responsible for strategically developing, planning, implementing, tracking and evaluating marketing, advertising, public relations and social media communications to brand the destination, inspire visitation and increase economic impact in the Tri-Cities. Lead the marketing team in promoting the Tri-Cities as a premier destination for meetings and conferences, sports events and leisure travel with the goal of increasing hotel occupancy and positive media exposure. Oversees the Visit Tri-Cities’ (VTC) media outreach programs, including the development and implementation of strategies that target travel, tourism, and lifestyle writers and publications, local and regional media outlets. This is a full-time, salaried position, with some evenings, weekends, and travel required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate results oriented, strategic marketing plan with goal driven communications campaigns using digital and traditional advertising tactics.
- Create and execute comprehensive annual marketing communication plans for internal and external audiences.
- Lead strategy and development of the destination’s Leisure Travel Market while implementing marketing tactics for all external markets.
- Provide direction, guidance and leadership to Marketing Team.
- Work in collaboration with the Creative Services Team to create unified messaging and collateral
- Provide collateral and tools for Visitor Information Centers, Kiosks and other visitor services.
- Monitor campaign metrics and prepare reports.
- Develop and maintain the annual advertising and marketing budget.
- Negotiate contracts for agency agreements, media purchases and production.
- Coordinates interaction with contracted agencies and oversees agency efforts.
- Work with the VTC public relations agency of record to secure positive media exposure for the region.
- Oversee the media outreach program.
- Monitor media coverage and report on related press value.
- Oversee management and strategies for social channels.
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, VTC members and other tourism-related contacts in Tri-Cities region.
- Engage with boards and committees and community leaders as needed to fulfill objectives.
- Develop materials and content for travel media, sales teams, digital blogs, articles, etc.
- Collaborate with Creative Services Team to coordinate collateral and website development (e.g. photography, video content, graphics, and promotional items).
- Collaborate with Creative Services Team to manage production of Visit Tri-Cities publications.
- Manage contracts and deadlines for marketing platforms.
- Plans and coordinates special communications projects.
- Act as VTC spokesperson when required.
- Assists with convention, sports and event marketing activities.
- Provide leadership for various committees and perform various other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree in public relations, journalism, marketing or communications preferred
- Experience working with a Destination Marketing Organization preferred
- Minimum three years of experience in marketing, advertising or public relations field
- Minimum two years experience buying digital advertising
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skills in creative concepting and advertising design
- Proficiency with digital adverting data analysis tools
- Practical experience in the hospitality industry
Benefits
- Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
