Position Overview
We are seeking a talented 2023 graduate to join Farallon Labs as a full-time data science analyst at the firm’s headquarter in San Francisco. Farallon Labs is the firm’s hypothesis-driven data science research team that combines the most innovative data analyses and quantitative tools with Farallon’s traditional strength in deep fundamental research. You will be part of a lean, high-performing team that drives the firm’s strategic data science initiative on behalf of the partnership. You will work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment to develop creative data and analytical models to provide unique insights into complex investment research and investment management questions.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior data scientists to evaluate and curate large-scale data sets and investigate new modeling methodologies to help drive innovative data use cases for investment research across asset classes and strategies
- Develop and maintain mission-critical data pipelines and analytical tools that streamline and scale the data engineering lifecycle from ingestion to insight
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders to understand investment research and business needs and communicate sophisticated insights to influence investment decision making and drive portfolio impact
- Support day-to-day research operations of the team and take part in continuous improvements to research quality by applying creative problem-solving to a wide variety of research questions
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. degree in computer science, economics, statistics or other quantitative discipline (3.5 minimum cumulative GPA or equivalent) from a top accredited university or college
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, and proficiency in Python and other programming languages
- Intellectually curious, with strong work ethic and ability to think outside the box
- Able to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and have the utmost level of personal integrity
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and coherently to various audiences
- Although experience in finance or business is a plus, we are open-minded to creative problem-solvers who are passionate about using data to shed light on complex situations
