The position is located at the Georgia Power Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
** You will be required to be in the office a MINIMUM of three (3) days per week or 12 days per month.
J OB SUMMARY
The Engineer (Civil) position is responsible for coordination of civil site design activities in the Land Engineering Department of Georgia Power supporting various internal customers. This individual will provide leadership and consultation to the project team in support of land acquisition, site design, and construction of Georgia Power facilities.
The position will be filled at level 4E - 6E based on knowledge and experience.
The position is located in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Power Corporate Headquarters.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field is required.
Experience Requirements
-
A minimum 2 years of civil engineering site design experience is required. Specific experience in grading and drainage, storm water management systems, and erosion/sediment control are highly preferred.

Project management and/or project engineering experience, especially in coordinating multiple projects at once, is highly preferred.

Experience with CADD for civil engineering design and drafting, and a working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.

Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools is preferred.

Working knowledge and/or experience in surveying and/or mapping is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must have the ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects at once.

Working knowledge of the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Control Act, NPDES construction stormwater permit requirements, and other regulations related to land disturbance activities is preferred.

Working knowledge of the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual and Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia is preferred.

Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.

Strong written and oral communications skills required. The ability to clearly communicate with project teams and customers is critical.

The ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines is required.

The ability and willingness to hold oneself, peers, and vendors accountable to schedule and quality expectations is required.
Duties
-
Provide civil engineering support (site evaluation, grading, drainage, sediment and erosion control, etc.) for the surveying, mapping, design, and construction of various projects, including electric transmission lines, substation facilities, corporate facilities, and other site development for various customers.

Perform and/or facilitate design for the above in a CAD environment.

Manage and provide work direction for contract engineering resources performing civil site design tasks.

Evaluate and perform civil/site due diligence on potential sites for future development.

Conduct on-site inspections of projects statewide before and during design and construction.

Conduct quality control and quality assurance of design deliverables.

Evaluate and provide input on scopes, schedules, and budgets for civil activities.

Maintain client relationships and coordinate with other engineering disciplines throughout project lifecycles.

Ability to travel statewide and perform outdoor inspections and consultation.
