Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Nearly 20% of Wisconsin residents pay more than 50% of their family income for housing. With an already large but increasing need for affordable housing in our state, the 38 local Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Wisconsin are working hard to address that need by partnering with low-income families to build, rehab or repair homes. The Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA program’s goal is to strengthen affiliates and increase their capacity. With passion, commitment, and hard work our VISTA members help affiliates as they bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Located along the beautiful Mississippi River, HFH La Crosse serves La Crosse, Vernon, and Trempealeau counties in western Wisconsin, and Houston County in Minnesota. Dedicated to bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope, HFH La Crosse has built over 40 homes since becoming an affiliate in 1992 and continues to improve housing conditions.

Member Duties : You’ll create an online ReStore focused on donated items that are unique, of elevated value, and/or rare. This online ReStore will raise funds to support Habitat’s mission of affordable homeownership. You’ll develop the physical (back end) space for the store, including processes for intake, storage, and tracking of items. Define volunteer roles, create signage, and train staff. Next you’ll create the online store implementing the new point of sale system and outlining all related processes and related volunteer roles. You’ll also create and implement a marketing strategy for the store. In addition, you’ll help organize two fundraisers that include an online auction and “garage sale.” **Interviews are done on a rolling basis.
